A convincing victory for the India Under-19 side and in the other semis, the Bangladesh U-19 have defeated Pakistan U-19 by 7 wickets. So, two one-sided affairs in the semi-finals but the only thing we want is a proper battle in the finals. Join us on the 8th of this month for the finals as the India Under-19 will face off against the Bangladesh U-19. The game will begin at 5 am GMT. Do join us for the early buildup as well. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Mohammad Amaan, the victorious skipper of India Under-19, says that everything they had planned was executed well. Adds that despite losing the toss, they just wanted to do what was in front of them and make sure to do it well. Mentions that after the first loss, the atmosphere in the camp is good and they will now try to take it ahead to the final. Concludes that most of the things are covered and as a team, they are playing well and they will hope to continue it.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the Player of the Match for his quickfire knock of 67 runs!
Vihas Thewmika, the skipper of Sri Lanka Under-19, says that the decision to bat first was right but they lost wickets early on. Adds that it was a bad day. He says that they played good cricket and ends by saying that they will move on from this and bounce back stronger.
Stay tuned for the Presentation Ceremony...
Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in for a chat. He says they as a team wanted to put in extra effort and it has come good thus far and will look to carry it into the finals. Adds that his intent is clear and if the ball is in his arc he never backs away and goes after it. Mentions that he dreams of playing for the senior India team and he will keep working hard.
Earlier in the match, the Sri Lanka Under-19 were off to a shaky start, losing their first three wickets for just 8 runs. However, a crucial 93-run partnership between Sharujan Shanmuganathan and Lakvin Abeysinghe stabilized the innings. Shanmuganathan fell short of a half-century, and after he was dismissed, Sri Lanka collapsed and was bowled out for 173 runs, with Abeysinghe top-scoring at 69. Meanwhile, India Under-19 had a strong bowling performance, led by Chetan Sharma's 3 wickets, along with Ayush Mhatre and Kiran Chormale, who took 2 wickets each, setting the stage for their batting chase to reach the finals.
Sri Lanka Under-19 were under the pump from the word go. Their bowlers struggled to take wickets early on. Despite managing to dismiss Ayush Mhatre later in the innings, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was in exceptional form, scoring a brisk 67 runs. They managed to dismiss Suryavanshi as well but till then, it was all game done. Vihas Thewmika, Viran Chamuditha, and Praveen Maneesha contributed to the wicket tally with one wicket each, however, their efforts were insufficient to turn the tide in favor of Sri Lanka.
Coming to this game, India Under-19 got off to a flying start, and when I say flying, I really mean it! Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the star of the show, sending the ball soaring out of the ground, while Ayush Mhatre played a vital supporting role. They kept the Sri Lankan bowlers on their toes, refusing to let them settle. Mhatre kept on finding the gaps while Suryavanshi kept on sending the ball out of the park. Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi both departed at 34 and 67 respectively but made sure their side got over the line with ease.
INDIA UNDER-19 ARE INTO THE FINALS! In the other semi-final, Bangladesh U-19 just needs a few runs against Pakistan U-19 to get into the finals so expect it to be an India U-19 versus the Bangladesh U-19 in the ACC Men's U19 Asia Cup finals.
